Meet Ms. Leslie Harrison
Lead certified swimming Instructor

As a mom, one of my greatest hopes is that my kids know how much I love them, and that I will always do what I believe is best for them. Protecting them from aquatic accidents was, and is, of utmost importance.
Our family spends a lot of time around water: swimming pools, rivers, lakes and oceans.  After investing several years in traditional swim lessons, my husband and I were disappointed with the lack of skill and false confidence our boys acquired. Realizing they didn't come away with any skills that could actually save their lives, much less make an afternoon at the pool enjoyable, I became passionate about finding the best way to equip them with the knowledge they would need in order to survive an aquatic accident and to swim effectively.

The safety of my own children is what originally motivated me to learn these life-saving skills. In 2008, when I left them and my husband behind for six weeks to undergo intensive hands on training, I had no idea of the impact I could make on other people’s lives. I can’t even describe what it means to know that my sacrifice and training has saved multiple lives from drowning. I am determined and dedicated to join parents of my community in protecting their children from an unnecessary tragedy. Splashing around and having fun in the water has its place, but only after you’ve done ALL you can to ensure that you’ve armed your children with the skills necessary to survive.

My passion, experience, and special rapport with children will ensure that your child receives the safest and highest quality instruction possible.

Meet Ms. brittany HARRIS
CERTIFIED SWIMMING INSTRUCTOR

At nearly two years old, Brittany and her husband had already noticed that their son, Finley, had no real sense of danger or fear of water. They decided to sign Finley up for lessons with SuperStar Aquatics and were amazed at how quickly he learned to swim-float-swim. With a diagnosis of autism nearly a year after they began the program, they  were reassured
that their decision to begin survival swim lessons when they did was one of the best things they could have done for their son.

Watching her own child progress through the lessons really drew her into it.  After his autism diagnosis, she also began to notice a connection in behavior therapy between the survival swim program and the autism program (Applied Behavior Analysis-ABA). The correlation of the methods in teaching made her grow even more passionate about the process.  She began asking a lot of questions and wanting to really understand what the instructor was doing and why.

Brittany’s enthusiasm for the program prompted Leslie to approach her about coming on board.  She started in August 2016 in the office and it was only about six months before she began her training with Leslie to become a certified instructor.  Brittany has now been working as both a Survival Instructor and Administrative Assistant since February 2017.

One of the greatest things about working for SuperStar Aquatics for Brittany is that it’s consistently amazing to see the kids learn.  It is always shocking and surprising to see a kid really grasp the process-- and for her, it never grows old. On top of the progress she sees each six weeks, it is even more incredible to see her students grow and progress through the regular refresher courses.  From watching them swim-float-swim as an infant to learning to do strokes as a toddler, the general progression of growth is astonishing. She truly loves the fact that she is really able to get to know her families and to watch each child grow.

Meet Ms. karin barnett
administrative assistant

Karin Barnett, Customer Service Liaison at SuperStar Aquatics, has witnessed the unparalleled success of this program from the very beginning.  She is amazed at the
growth of the group and incredibly proud of the amount of lives that have been saved through this program. Karin’s role allows her to take charge of scheduling, work as a liaison with parents, and be there as a supporting member of the team
to remind parents that their children truly are in the best hands with the instructors.

Karin’s family has always spent much of their free time around water, which is quite possibly where her daughter, Miss Leslie, developed her love for the water.  After the birth of her grandsons, she witnessed the struggle Leslie experienced trying to find a swim program that offered much more than most were able to offer.  She wanted safety; she wanted survival. Karin watched as her daughter investigated Infant Aquatics Program. When Leslie made the selfless decision to head to Colorado for six weeks to become a certified infant survival swim instructor, Karin and her husband supported her by helping their son-in-law care for the kids while she was away.  Karin’s pride in Leslie and her determination to keep her family and all other families safe has enhanced her passion for the program and the desire to promote water safety for all children.

Starting first as an underwater photographer and one of the greatest supporters of the program, Karin has been fortunate to witness the growth, determination, and love that has allowed the group to become a success from the start.  Over the years, Leslie has continued to ask her mom to come back and work for her. Karin always said that one day, she would retire and take the opportunity to help out with this program that she is so passionate about and so proud of her daughter for developing.  Finally, after 40 years with the same company she is at the point where she can follow this dream and work side-by-side with her daughter while doing something that they both love.
